CULLMAN COUNTY COMMISSION MEETING
January 25, 2010

CALL TO ORDER AND WELCOME

Chairman James Graves called the Commission Meeting to order at 10:00 a.m. and welcomed the visitors.

CALL OF ROLL TO ESTABLISH QUORUM, INVOCATION AND PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Charlotte Slatton, County Clerk, called the roll; present were Chairman James Graves, Commissioner Wayne Willingham, Commissioner Doug Williams and County Attorney Dan Willingham.  The invocation was given by Dan Willingham and Commissioner Wayne Willingham led the Pledge of Allegiance

APPROVE MINUTES OF THE JANUARY 12, 2010 MINUTES, APPROVE APPROPRIATIONS, EXPENDITURES, REQUISITIONS, TRAVEL EXPENSES; AND APPROVE ALL JOURNAL ENTRIES TO BE POSTED.
Commissioner Doug Williams made the motion to approve the January 12, 2010 minutes, approve appropriations, expenditures, requisitions, travel expenses and approve all journal entries to be posted.  Commissioner Wayne Willingham seconded the motion, and upon a voice vote, the motion carried unanimously.

PUBLIC COMMENTS
There were no public comments.

NEW BUSINESS
Public Hearing for Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) grant application for improvements at Sportsman Lake Park
Buchanan Jackson from the Economic Development Office stated the public hearing is a part of the grant application and encouraged those present to mark the support column of the sign-in sheet.  The grant will be used for a splash pad at the park.  The public hearing was close

Consider plat for Brooklyn Meadows Subdivision located in District 4 on County Road 1718
Keith Creel, Assistant Engineer, stated the subdivision meets the requirements for a minor subdivision.  Located just outside the Holly Pond town limits, the subdivision has five lots.  He recommended acceptance contingent of the receipt of the necessary signatures.  Commissioner Williams made a motion to approve the plat for the Brooklyn Meadows Subdivision contingent of the receipt of signatures.  Commissioner Willingham seconded. The motion passed on a unanimous voice vote.

Update on the condition of the County Roads
Commissioners Williams and Willingham reported on the road conditions in their districts.  Both stated the recent extended period of freezing temperatures along with the excessive rain of the past weekend have some county roads almost impassable.  Commissioner Williams stated a representative from the federal disaster team will be in Cullman County this week to evaluate if the County will qualify for federal disaster funds.  Commissioner Willingham urged citizens to be patient considering the extent of the damage.

Correction of the appointment of Joe Golden to the E-911 Board
Commissioner Williams stated that in the last Commission Meeting he appointed Joe Golden from Baileyton to the E-911 Board.  There are two Joe Goldens in Cullman County.  His intended appointment was the Joe Golden from Gold Ridge.  He made a motion to “un-appoint” the Baileyton Joe Golden and appoint Joe Golden from Gold Ridge.  Commissioner Willingham seconded, and upon a unanimous voice vote, the motion passed.

Commissioner Willingham announced he will be serving as the Chairman of the Personnel Committee at NARCOG.

Chairman Graves announced the next meeting of NARCOG will be January 28, 2010 at the Decatur office of NARCOG.

NEXT REGULAR COMMISSION MEETING TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2010

Chairman Graves announced the next regular Commission Meeting will be Tuesday, February 9, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. in the Commission Office Conference Room.

 

 

 

 

ADJOURN THE MEETING

Chairman Graves asked if there was further business to consider and there was none.  Chairman Graves adjourned the meeting at 10:08 a.m.
