Cullman County, City announce
completion of fifth speculative building

Ready for another
new industry!

Cooperation was the word of the day as city and county officials met on January 31st to cut the ribbon on Speculative Building Number 5 at Cullman Industrial Complex II.
Speculative Building Number 5 is a continuation of the “spec” building program of the county and city governments, industrial development boards and economic development offices. “Spec” Building Number 6 is already planned and ready to start construction when Number 5 is occupied.
The theme of cooperation was evident as a number of speakers addressed the crowd gathered to celebrate progress and as entities involved in the project attended the ribbon-cutting ceremonies.
Partners of the project attending were representatives from Cullman Area Chamber of Commerce, TVA and its local distributors Cullman Electric Cooperative and Cullman Power Board, local banks who participated in financing the project, Cullman Mayor and City Council, Cullman County Commission, Cullman County and City of Cullman Industrial Development Boards, City of Cullman Community and Economic Development Office and Cullman County Economic Development Office.
“It’s cooperation that has gotten us where we are today, “ said Cullman County Commission Chairman Norman Tucker.
“ The “spec” buildings have created over 1,000 new jobs in Cullman County,” said Cullman Mayor Don Green. “That spirit of cooperation is very important.”
The new 100,000 square feet building was built by local Cullman County companies and financed by the City of Cullman and Cullman County Commission through the local banks in Cullman County and TVA.
Waymon Pace of TVA told the crowd “A lot of communities would love to be where you are, but they won’t pull together, they won’t help themselves”.

Local economic development officials are proud of the fact that this project was built by local people and local businesses. The project engineering was done by the Cullman engineering firm of St. John & Associates, site preparation by Bates Roadbuilders, the building was manufactured by Inland Buildings of Cullman and erected by Eidson & Associates of Cullman.
“We appreciate the hard work of the county and city. They not only attract new industry with the “spec” building program, they also contribute to the 175-180 local people who work at Inland Buildings in Cullman,” said Robert South of Inland Buildings.
